Amy Beth is an artist, designer and stylist who splits her time between New York City and Litchfield County. In her free time she makes collages, knits, loves homemaking, and adores spending her time with her husband, Mr. D. Believe it or not, Amy’s initials are ABCD!
ABC first studied fine art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She completed a six-month chef-training program in NYC at the Natural Gourmet Institute and earned a Certificate in Floral Design from Parsons School of Art and Design.
Since college, ABCD’s thirst for knowledge and different design mediums has led her to continue to seek out educational opportunities in classes such as home styling, interior design, antiques appraisal, machine knitting, and welding.
ABCD’s career has been a mélange of creative endeavors. She has worked in event planning, window display, photo styling, floral, stationery, and interior design.
Amy’s interior design aesthetic all about transitionalism. She doesn’t want to walk in a room and be able to pinpoint when it was decorated. ABCD believes that the home should be an amalgamation of the items that the owner loves and when you layer in pieces from different eras (that fit your taste) they will fuse to form a relaxing environment that reflects your personality. ABCD is particularly drawn to vintage pieces that are difficult to place in history. They are the perfect bridge between rustic and modern, traditional and today.
ABCD believes no matter what design medium you are working with – a painting or sculpture, design of an interior space, an arrangement of flowers, or when styling a beautiful plate of food – one must always follow the same elements of design. In order to create a beautiful end product there must be unity, flow, texture, harmonizing color, balance and a focal point to please the eye. This is the design philosophy that drives the inspiration behind everything Amy creates.
