Jan 23rd 2008 Cool Logo, no?

Anne Brown of Brockseker Communications asked me to work on a logo for her new book called Grad To Great. I have submitted this logo for approval. I am pretty happy with the concept.

Jan 7th 2008 Amy & Scott – Tying the Knot!

These invitations are causing a stir. I simply cannot get away from the telephone. All of your cousins have either called or filled up our answering machine with messages regarding the save the date you sent out. They have never seen anything like this. My girlfriends keep going on and on about the details, the rubber stamps, the texture of the paper and most of all your faces on the postage! They are all so excited to come to New York for your wedding! Honey Bun, I have a feeling you are on to something. You’re creating a new career for yourself.

Amy, Isn’t it time for another installment of ABC mail? I find my self checking the mail in hopes that you’ve designed another piece. I have been saving them all and some day when you are famous, I am going to say that I have Amy Cupp originals! Maybe when that point comes I will sell them on e-bay and become a millionaire!

Amy,
You’ve really found your calling! These invitations are amazing. If you are not doing this design work and getting paid for it, I suggest you quit whatever you are doing and get going on designing for other people! They are amazing and I cannot wait to be at the party, which judging from the invites is going to be equally fantastic.

They are some of the best (invitations) we have seen.

A word on the designs by ABC Dragoo:
I sent out our Reserve the Date. It was on amazing paper and packaged in a bright yellow envelope. I had come up with the color scheme by thinking about the first flowering branches of Spring – the Forsythia! I have always loved Lady Liberty – and given that our big day was a destination wedding of sorts, she made it on the first piece of the wedding suite.

I knew I was onto something when the endless phone calls came in after that first mailing. I had set a precedent for the entire wardrobe with that first piece of mail!

Before I knew it, I was thinking about the feel of our wedding and the mood I wanted to create. I wanted these invitations to be ultra-personal and totally unique. In my eyes the designs needed to tell our story and get our personality as a couple across to our guests.

I included photos from our courtship – I told the story of our engagement – it was all packaged in the most lovely way. I had always created envelope art for friends, family and loved ones covered in stickers, collage and rubber stamps. That design element remained in the post we sent throughout our engagement. It is quite exciting to have envelopes like these show up between junk mail and bills!

Our wedding was planned for the darkest, grey day in the dead of winter. I knew I wanted to give our guests a bright celebration to look forward to. This would be a huge and colorful party that would lift their spirits and put them in a romantic mood for Valentines Day.

Many of our guests told me it felt like they had received a gift when referring to our wedding invitation. The personal touch -telling your story and the feeling of un-wrapping a gift is what I attempt to capture when working with papercupp brides.

Jan 3rd 2008 Thank-You Brooklyn Bride!

Way back in October, the lovely Ms. Vane at Brooklyn Bride Blog was kind enough to do a two day spread about our wedding. One day she focused on our wedding. The second day she featured the graphic design I did for our Wedding Suite. I owe her one – Papercupp Design is keeping busy thanks to the Brooklyn Bride!
