Charleston – Coconut Cake and MORE!
It is Mr. D’s Birthday this week and that gets me thinking about cake. While I could make a cake, I am totally tempted to order the Coconut Cake from the Peninsula Grill in Charleston. Last spring, we attended a wedding in Charleston and stumbled onto this:
The best Coconut Cake EVER. For Real, no joke. THE BEST!
Thankfully, the Coconut Cake is available to be shipped anywhere in the United States via Fed Ex. Be sure to invite your friends for dessert as this tasty delight is a HUGE cake! It weighs 21lbs. Don’t worry, the Peninsula Grill sends the cake frozen the day you order it – this way, the frosting will not get messed up in the shipping process. It’s almost thawed by the time it arrives, so you won’t waste time digging into it. Simply rip open the box and enjoy! It is well worth the $100.00 price tag. It tastes like a million bucks!
BTW: The entire weekend was filled with delectable eating!
We had brunch *before the Sunday wedding* at Poogan’s Porch. Southern food to the extreme. Mr. D actually had fried Alligator and I dined on fried green tomatoes! The omlettes were super tasty. We are both big eaters, but the omlettes were so enormous we could have easily split one – especially after the fried appetizers!
P.S. The shopping was great too…
{*forgive* this is my folded tare-sheet from Surround. I didn’t want to forget the great prices on these -!- $3200 for the large sofa, $2800 for the loveseat and $1600 for the lounge}
A little window shopping brought us to a lovely home store called Surround on King Street. What a find! It’s full of great furniture and home accessories. No website, sorry folks! The line *shown above* is modern in style and incredibly handsome in shape which means any of the pieces could fit into almost any decor scheme. Mr. D sat (as men do when shopping) and he insisted that I take a test drive too! It was so comfy that we nearly refused to leave the store. If we were in the market for a new sofa or lounge chairs they’d certainly make my short list. *However tempting, I would only do one sofa OR two chairs from the suite. ABCD Design RULE: Never, NEVER do all three pieces. It will become too matchy-matchy and cheapen the look – like you got “a deal” for buying a set!
