Never messy. Just full. Very, very full.

At the top of this blog I say NEVER MESSY.

There is one time a year when I let that “Never Messy” rule take the back seat.

I do however snap everything back in line quite quickly.

Batches of dough placed in rows.

The sweet smell of bakery goods throughout the house. A serious delight.

With results like this…

and this…

and this…

no one seems to complain!

Today I am packaging up all the holiday bakery goods and sending them out to this years recipients.

YUM. Just like mom bakes! When I turned 25 my mom hand wrote all of her recipes for me and placed them in a three ring binder. Inside it said “To my favorite chef on her 25th birthday, Love DeDe.” Out of my entire 100+ library of cookbooks, it is the only recipe book I cook and bake from!

What a yummy post! Too bad all of our Christmas cookies got eaten before I could photograph them! I absolutely cherish my cookbook Mom Signe gave me at my bridal shower! A few of your moms recipes are inside too-I think Aunt Betty’s derby pie will be making its debut at the Brown Family Christmas dinner.

Lauren – I heard through the grapevine that they scanned in her recipes? Does this mean there is a digital version of the book somewhere? I’d love a second copy. Something to look into when I am back home at the holidays! BTW: How about the frozen lemon/vodka slush? Ever made it? I keep a vat in the freezer always. YUM.

Nooo, Mom Signe hand wrote every single one. I actually had to call her about one of the cookie recipes, b/c she forgot the time and temp! She told me she was getting tired at the end, so I’m completely empathetic!
