ABCD Designs *featured* at Desire To Inspire!
Today I am the luckiest girl. ABCD Designs *interior design* is featured on Desire To Inspire! To receive a wink and a nod from Mid-Century Jo and Kimberly is a total and complete THRILL for me. It is truly a highlight in my interior design career accomplishments. I am over the top 100% D E L I G H T E D!

Fall 2006: I sold my West Village apartment. Mr. D and I were newly engaged and planning our February wedding. We bought a new place in the heart of Soho to renovate as our first home together. This Bright City Whites collage was my vision for our new project.

It consisted of the existing floor plan *which we ended up tweaking a bit* – a bed that I loved – grey marble – white trim and walls – dark wood and matte nickel accents. The goal was to mix old and new. Lots of white, neutrals and a pop of color.

During the renovation, Mr. D and I had our engagement photo session on the roof top of the building and on the Soho streets surrounding our soon-to-be newlywed home!

When decorating our new digs, I had to “marry” my vintage esthetic with Mr. D’s love for clean-edged modern design. There is no doubt, this place has good bones. It’s got really great light from CRAZY HUGE windows and a turn-of-the-century feel.

Remember this summer when we installed air conditioning? GAACK! The kitchen I designed is traditional and fresh, yet very 2008. This is going waaaay back, but you may also remember when I was stuck at home to oversee the kitchen installation. The impetus behind starting ABCD Design!

It is prime time to wrap it up in a bow and let someone else enjoy it. Mr. D and I are moving on. Hooray, A new personal project!
We’ve got our eyes set on 2010! How amazing are these modern pre-fab LVL homes by Rocio Romero? I love the idea of having one plunked out in the middle of the woods. All those windows bringing the outside in – so nice.
Am I sad to go? No! This is what I do best. Nesting, making it home – and then moving on! This renovation go-around we are contemplating many different options. Perhaps we’ll do a small yet rustic apartment in the City and build an uber-modern house in the country? I adore the juxtaposition!
…maybe vice versa…

…perhaps we will combine a country look with modern… Only time will tell.
One thing I am sure about – I am dying to incorporate this red painted metal desk from Blue Dot!
ABCD loves, LOVES, L-O-V-E-S a new personal interior design project. Whatever we do, the ABCD Design readers will be along for the ride! winkwink. I can’t wait to share what products I find, details we are considering and what “our stuff” looks like placed in a new spot. This is all so very E X C I T I N G!
With renovations on the horizon I have to admit I can’t stop thinking about the fireplace post I saw on Design Therapy and this kitchen from House Beautiful.
Yes, I LOVE it. Rustic with a hint of modern flair. How could I not LOVE this look? Please! Recycled. Lovely. No muss. No Fuss. Pure Goodness.

I certainly have a consistent “look” I am drawn to -!- see below -!- a range that resembles a hearth. Love it! *Only mine would have room for pot handles on either side of the range.* Just a smidge of countertop. 6 inches or so carved out on either side would give that extra little wiggle room for actual use of ALL burners (if need be!) This current layout renders the outside burners quite useless in many cases.

I am thrilled say that TODAY my VERY FAVORITE design blog Desire to Inspire is featuring a complete tour of our finished New York City home - *sans the tarted-up Holiday Decor*!

What a delight. Seriously. Desire to Inspire, thanks for featuring our feathered nest!

Hi there Trisha! Thanks for leaving a comment! It is a favorite daily read of mine too, that is why I am totally bursting at the seams that they thought enough of our personal space to post about it! YAY! Thanks for the compliment.

How exciting for you!! Both the Desire to Inspire post and your big plans! Your current place is so fantastic that I can only imagine what the next place will become. Rustic with hints of modern is my favorite look as well. Your space really is to die for… Good luck!!

Oh thank you Courtney! I was shocked to see that they used pictures from when the place was tarted up for Christmas too! I had directed Kim to the blog as I thought it would be fun for her to see all the glitter incorporated in the space, but never in a million years would have thought she’d pull all those pics. Anyway, I am still beaming over the feature. It is truly one of my go to places for fresh wonderful design – and it thrills me that they’d think enough of my work/collections to feature them on Desire to Inspire! YAY….
