Today I am preparing Maggie and Trevor’s stationery designs for print. It is an exciting letterpress suite with darling computer calligraphy mailing labels. Since I rarely share the design process I go through with ABCD Design Brides *and ALL of you are familiar with Maggie’s Eat Drink Marry blog* I have decided to explain how we created a perfectly patterned wedding stationery wardrobe fit for a couple “planning a wedding with laughter, loved ones and red shoes.”

When Maggie and Trevor’s finished questionnaire came back I nearly fell out of my chair. Not kidding. It was 25 pages of information about the couple. There were tare sheets and samples – lots and lots and lots of samples. She is inspired by everything from Central Asian Suzani textiles and Folk art to political pennants and bunting.

After the first package came in, Maggie would send sweet little inspiration e-mails:

To be honest, I struggled quite a bit to wrap my head around how I was going to incorporate stars, a campaign theme, dots, swirls/paisley waves and pattern/damask/flowers into less than a handful of printed pieces. I was so far out of my comfort zone – the Virgo in me fought it, big time!

In the end I pushed through my mental blocks. We played up the “themes” that Maggie and Trevor favored and now we finally have it: a perfectly patterned wedding stationery wardrobe. It’s sweet. It tells their story. It reflects their personality and style as a couple.

Stay tuned for the Bespoke Stationery Wardrobe “Unveil” scheduled for later this week!
