The Business of Being Creative {THANK-YOU!}

Over the weekend I took some time to peruse blogs that I have not visited in a while. I am not up to speed with using the google reader, I just make a point to click around the web and check out what’s new on occasion. Needless to say on Sunday night it was time for me to soak up new information about growing my business. So, I did what every creative should – I popped over to get a dose of Sean Low’s blog ‘The Business of Being Creative.’ Let’s just say I was completely bowled over when I arrived to see what he had to teach me – and he was complimenting the content of ABCD Design!

Timing is everything

Sean Low used ABCD Design as a prime example of being heard when everyone else is speaking. He says “If you can figure out how to talk to your clients when they don’t NEED to listen to you, yours will be the only voice they will want to hear when they do. Blogging about all things design and a little bit about business.”
It takes a village
I am seriously flattered. I have made it no secret of how high I hold interior designer Vicente Wolf and floral designer/event planner extraordinaire Preston Bailey on a pedestal – but did you realize that Sean Low is the man responsible for growing and running the business side of their creative endeavors? This is seriously cool that ABCD Design is even in the realm of his radar.

P.S. Have I mentioned recently how completely fabulous Twitter is? I am such a HUGE fan! In the last few weeks, I have met many of my Twitter friends (and design idols) at networking events and parties around the City. I would have never had access to these experiences without having first introduced myself (and the ABCD Design blog) via Twitter. Every once in a while someone I completely admire will follow me. It makes my knees buckle and my heart race – just the ability to “chat” with them, to have the opportunity for introduction is a pretty remarkable thing. Your voice will be heard and your reach spread far and wide. It may even lead to nifty blog mentions that make your heart go-a-flutter!
