I have rarely considered anything other than white linens on a bed. There is something so fresh, crisp and lovely about white sheets. I say go ahead and throw in multi-colored scatter pillows but leave the colored sheets behind, thanks! I found great examples of beds dressed in white at Livingetc.


I keep finding these light blue bedrooms that - I can’t help but be drawn to! Remember this pretty this barely blue and orange room?

I am really drawn to these sparingly decorated bedrooms from Country Living. Gotta love a mix of linen and white.

In the bedroom I find myself wavering from the ultra-light white on barely-white walls to the idea of black walls or a very dark wall treatment. I toyed *a smidge* with a dark color bedroom in our last apartment. We had an interior bedroom that I had painted a very, very dark brown. It was so dark that it was almost black. Van Buren Brown by Benjamin Moore is the perfect shade of Dark Bittersweet Chocolate – we’re talking like 87% cacao! *winkwink* It made for one incredibly yummy, cozy and fabulous space.




Dare I go that direction in our new Master Bedroom? It is clearly a site-specific call. Most likely it will be dependent upon where we end up and what the space asks for. A place on the beach hardly calls for black walls – or does it? I guess we shall see! Changing the subject from dark walls to lots of fabric … I completely L O V E a canopy that hangs from the ceiling.

One of my favorite blogs wrote a post called ‘Curtain Call’ a few months ago. Between Courtney’s blog post (full of gorgeous curtain clad beds) and this image below from Elle Decor …  I can’t help but want to make the look “happen” in our new master bedroom.

My decorating chops are killing me -!- If you can’t tell, I am counting the days until I can sit in a construction dust filled space, make a collage full of paint chips, wallpaper samples and tear sheets again. Renovations are difficult but it is where I find my own personal B L I S S!
