{David Hicks} Perfectly Patterned Interiors
David Hicks was a photographer, a painter, he made sculptures and was a talented garden designer. He produced fashion designs and jewelry collections. David Hicks is best known for his interior design in which included his own self-designed patterned carpets and fabrics.

He started to design patterned carpets and fabrics when he found that there were not any on the market that he wanted use in his interior design projects. Sound familiar? *winkwink* Hicks (who born in England) began working in the USA in 1967. He designed apartments in Manhattan for an international clientele and at the same time promoted his carpet and fabric collections. He passed away in 1998.
David’s son Ashley has taken over where his father left off. Ashley Hicks has expanded the brand and has reinterpreted his father’s designs into wallpaper, textiles and flooring.
As you may recall, I have had patterned stone floors on my mind recently. So you can imagine when I came across the Hicks Waterjet Collection – I became completely smitten!

I am not the only one who is loving patterned floors. (Yes, I am about to talk about the wonderful world of Twitter again!) The other day I was followed by a cutie pie called @Fionacartolina. I popped over to her page to read a few tweets and then proceeded to check out her wonderful blog.
Our friendship started off sorta like this:
Fiona is a stationery designer and a lover of rustic and industrial antiques. Fiona writes a blog that reflects the diverse design influences behind her work and all the things she loves. Hmnn, so similar – no? Her blog is called Cafe Cartolina – and YES – believe it or not she recently did a few lovely posts about patterned stone floors both here and here.
I think it’s quite possible that we really are sisters split apart at birth. *winkwink* On Twitter you can follow her @fionacartolina. If you are here and like reading ABCD Design – please do pop by Fiona’s blog and take a peek. I am sure you’ll become a fan of Cafe Cartolina.
