BRIDE Wonders: What to REGISTER for?

It may seem like a silly item to throw into your registry list … but in my opinion … it’s necessary. Swiss Steak, Pounded Chicken, the list goes on! Now that I have brought it up, you’ll start to realize how many recipes call for “tenderized” meat. “Tenderizing” is the act of breaking down the meat’s tough fibers through pounding. Meat mallets (also called meat bats, pounders and tenderizers) come in metal or wood and in a plethora of sizes and shapes. They can be large or small, have horizontal or vertical handles and be round, square or mallet-shaped. They all basically do the same thing. Just be sure to throw one on your wedding registry list! If you’re already through the wedding registry stage, do yourself a favor – hop on the internet to have one sent to your door. As far as I can tell, it’s a middle of Summer “necessity”. *winkwink*

The image above came from Chef’s Catalog, but you can get meat mallets at any chef or cooking supply store such as Sur La Table or Cutlery and More. Don’t forget to pop back by ABCD Design tomorrow for a totally delicious quick to prepare Summer dish!

I love using mine to crush things like nuts that are difficult to chop… just put them in a ziploc bag and pound away!
