Notes for the design file {Yes, please!}
I have been busy pulling together inspirational interior design images from the web this week. With no real desk to speak of at this point – I was quite envious when I came upon the one pictured above. I thought it was pretty perfect until I saw this home office post on freshome. They’re all incredibly tidy, aren’t they? Makes me wonder if people actually work in these spaces!
I am adoring this combination of neutral color with modern and rustic elements over at Style Swoon. I want that funky cabinet. In my studio, those drawers would be full of vintage buttons. Yes, yes indeed! As a side note, I can’t stop thinking about sewing dresses. More so, I can’t stop thinking about designing dresses. I have not sewn or used a sewing machine very much since my days at SAIC – I can’t help but wonder if I have a patternmaker/seamstress reading ABCD Design who’d be interested in collaborating?
My love for a neutral palette continued over at Verdigris Vie this week. White, barely there grey and medium brown wood tone makes for a lovely minimalist palette. I would like to work this trio somewhere, anywhere. It goes perfectly with that French Linen, and burlap crush that I have been nursing along.
Dear kitchen pantry of plentiful storage,
I love you so very much. I have been telling everyone who reads ABCD Design about my crush.
Some say you won’t believe me. Please read my declaration of devotion. Won’t you be mine?
With my love and admiration always,
xoxo ABCD xoxo
You are all fully aware that I L O V E the idea of decorating dark, right? I’d love to see the pantry above in navy or black stain, chalk full of colorful graphic packaging -or- better yet a collection of vintage vases from The End Of History. How about this image below from Studio Anetta’s blog? How much do I adore the dark sheen on this wainscoting? I can’t even begin. Heck, I have a white leather chesterfield in storage! Maybe I will be able to pull off this look easier than I had thought. Remember when I toyed with the idea of a dark bedroom? Now here’s a thought: I wonder (once we finally get settled somewhere!) if I should move our white leather chesterfield into our dark wood-laden master suite? BINGO. That’s pretty sexy if I do say so myself.
Speaking of bedrooms … Yeah, this duvet is fabulous -right?
You want to channel your inner femme fatale. Your fella wants a man-cave. Modern furniture is handsome. Might as well call it “manly” – shouldn’t we? Couple minimal furniture with this ruffled duvet cover and a limited color palette. Seems we have found a happy medium for the sexes, haven’t we?
The palette in this Black and Spiro bathroom (above) and these Coastal Living images (below) remind me of our old apartment. *Okay, YES. I miss it a little. I am aching to see my stuff, serve food on MY dishes, and have access to MY Fall wardrobe!* While I know I have “been there and done that” when it comes to white with pop’s of color, I can’t help but love these Coastal Living photos for their minimalist color-way and “pops” of black. Maybe I need to become even more refined in my color palette next decorating go-around?
I am starting to work on the theory for our new spot. All the public spaces should be bright white and light. The private spaces (bathrooms and bedrooms) will be the opposite, super dark (Black, Dark Brown, Navy) – So cozy. Does this design idea sound completely insane? In a way that idea puts a kink in my plan for a dark kitchen. However, it is my personal design so I suppose I can do whatever the heck I want -can’t I? Please, leave your comments. Tell me what you think about monochromatic decor and my crazy light public/dark private idea.

Wow you have lots and lots of ideas here. You sure you’re not an interior designer? Maybe you should be.
I agree with you on that last part when you said it’s your personal designs so you can do what ever the heck you want. Go for it! This is your home – Make it into something YOU and your Hub enjoy being in.

Great rooms, and I agree with you about those cabinets! You should see my mom’s house… her kitchen is ALL WHITE. Thank goodness she has a neat-freak for a grandson! LOL!

I am sitting at the hairdresser literally drooling over this post! Only problem is my iPhone screen is too small. Must go re-read this at a bigger screen. Can I justify buying an iPad just so I can appreciate your posts while i travel?
