Hip-Hip-Hooray ~ let the season begin!

Martha Stewart Halloween

This time of year = my delight! For all the reasons above and then some. I usually start knitting a new sweater sometime in August and wrap it up about this time of year – when the weather is just starting to be consistently cool. It becomes my cutie-pie “jacket” of sorts that I put on at every outing.

ABCD Designs sweaters too!

Obviously, this year is different from the rest. A few months ago, I would have told you we’d be settled in our new home by October. (If you’re interested in a Lemons to Lemonade update on Me and Mr. D, pop over to EAD Living at 3pm today where I will post details of our recent trip to New York City.) If we were settled somewhere – I’d be busy baking sugar cookies in the shape of bats, black cats, ghosts and witches. Which reminds me, (if you have not tried it yet) this is when you should pull out the Pumpkin Bread Recipe I shared at the Camille Maurice blog and get to baking!

Fall Images

Do you remember last year when I decorated our kitchen range hood for Halloween? Or all the crazy Halloween images that I collected throughout the month? Check them out here, here and (my favorite) the collection of vintage Halloween postcards here. Oh, how I adore October!! Speaking of which – ABCD Design is celebrating it’s TWO YEAR Blog-i-versary on October 7th. I plan to celebrate with my FIRST *EVER* GIVEAWAY on ABCD Design! I will announce all the details next Thursday. But first, there is a big announcement on it’s way later this afternoon. I am starting this celebration off (a week early) in the most fabulous of ways … Stay tuned in this afternoon!

P.S. I completely jumped the gun yesterday with the Mulligatawny Soup Recipe I posted. I usually like to make a recipe and then share it on the blog. However, it’s an old favorite recipe of mine and I was planning to make it for dinner last night. I thought it wouldn’t hurt to blog about it a little early since I knew I loved the recipe. The downside is that there were no photos for you to oooh and aaaah over. I have officially updated the post with a photo of the finished product. Or, just scroll down and look below … man-oh-man it was so delicious!
