Oct 5th 2009 10:02 am So AMAZING – I had to share!

Mr. D and I spent the weekend “Up North” in the carriage house. When we were getting ready for dinner on Saturday evening I was lucky enough to snap a few photos of the sunset. Almost every night Mother Nature puts on a spectacular show over the lake – this one was particularly good because it had been a stormy day. As a matter of fact, my Auntie Pam *you know, the one with the fabu chicken!* claims that the sunshine always makes an appearance for cocktail hour in Harbor Springs! Gotta love her, right?

Saturday's-Sunset

That view makes me want to make art – I mean seriously, it’s completely breathtaking. Don’t you just want the interior of your house to be painted in these colors? Rich velvet, linen and silk – all hand-dyed in these gorgeous colors of Mother Nature? These images are not doctored or enhanced in any way. To be honest, it was much better in person. It’s just amazing here and I feel so super lucky to have seen it.

Heath-Bar-Birthday-Cake
We celebrated Mr. D’s 35th birthday over the weekend. It may not be a pretty cake, but Mr. D’s Devil’s Food Chocolate Birthday Cake with Homemade Whipped Cream “icing” and crushed Heath Bars was completely Delectable! I had to think of a doozy of a cake since I had the coconut cake from last year to compete with. Now that was a cake! Hang tight, I will be posting the recipe for the Heath Bar Cake on EAD Living this week. Speaking of which, did you catch my food and shopping guide to NYC last week on EADL?

Thank You for sharing those photos of the sky. Amazing. So MAJESTIC!!! And yes, great inspiration for other projects, from re-painting the bedroom to creating art.

Serously I just want to dive right into that cake – it looks delightful ! Mmmm – And those pictures are absolutely beautiful. It’s true that you can’t really capture the total impression in a photo, but I sure to get a good feeling!! Great Great pics.. I am off to see if I can get me some bespoke stationary for the Holidays..:-)

    Heidi,

Fingers crossed we won’t be in Michigan at all !- we’re patiently waiting for Mr. D to get an offer on one of 3 jobs. Unfortunately, everyone is moving so slowly – it’s like molasses. All our belongings are still in storage NYC, so it won’t be too difficult to be on the move in a fast minute should the job end up outside the City – at this point 2 of them are in NYC and well .. you can guess I am pulling for those ones!

Vitania, I wish you luck – how fun would it be to design some vertigris vie holiday cards?!?!
