Restoration Hardware Metal Letter Ornaments Silver Set of 26Yes, indeed – we’re moving again. Over the last week or so, I have received several “House-Hunting” inquiries from loyal readers of ABCD Design. I thought I should bring all of you up to speed. Ever since Mr. D and I lost out on our dream country house, we’ve been grappling with what to do with ourselves.
Restoration Hardware Photo Snow GlobesWe’ve got to be in or around New York City as soon as possible. His job hunt depends upon it. We both agreed on house #1, but we had differing opinions on house #2 (far away from town, close to the NYC train, but pricey) and #3 (way out in the boondocks with super low taxes -It’s a real “dude” kind of place) – Since we can not agree, we’ve got a Country House stalemate. WAH!
Our Little ApartmentSomething we can both definitely agree upon – Yipee!! We’ve applied to live in this sweetheart-sized studio apartment. It isn’t actually *that little* for NYC standards. It is just tiny compared to the apartment we moved out of in the Spring. This means we’ll keep the storage, but at least some of our belongings will come and live with us. For that, I could not be happier!
Restoration Hardware Cashmere ScarvesWe were supposed to pack up leave for the City this weekend. The lease was written for a December 1st move in date. At 1pm Wednesday the apartment management office closed for Thanksgiving holiday. They are not scheduled reopen again until Monday the 30th. They still have not approved our application.
Restoration Hardware Westport Glass HurricanesI told the agent we’re camping at his place if he is wrong! {winkwink} At this point we’ve delayed our drive until Tuesday morning. We have our movers on notice for the 3rd of December. Fingers crossed, I will be a New Yorker again by the end of next week!
Restoration Hardware Globe LightsThree different New York apartments and a four month Michigan/Knoxville sabbatical in 2009. Who’d have thunk that 2009 would have been like this?

Hooray!! I’m thrilled that you are “thisclose” to getting back to your city–I know how excited you and Mr. D must be! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you next week :)

    Thank you- Thank you!!

I am super excited to get back to NYC. When we left NYC in July I imagined that one of the out of state jobs would come through – to my relief, they did not!

I know that sounds crazy, but I wasn’t done with NYC yet – I don’t think I will EVER be done with NYC. ;)

My fingers, toes and eyes are crossed hoping that we get approval to move into the apartment.

    Thanks for commenting today Betsy!

Seems as if 2009 has been quite the adventure. I hope everything comes through for you in the next couple weeks!

Thank you for the good wishes Jenn.

Hopefully I will have good news about the apartment next week – and about a new job for Mr. D shortly thereafter!

Congrats on the move, I am sure we all look forward to hearing how you decorate it.
That looks like new development, I would love to know what building it is as I am in the market too and love this floor plan. Any way you could share that with me?

Congrats!! This place definitely makes the most sense given your circumstances. Kind of a win-win… and with any luck, I’m a month behind you!

I’m so happy for you!!! Just think, you never even missed Christmas in New York! It’s amazing all the twists and turns life can present, but ultimately, they go into making us who we are. Good Luck with everything!!

Melinda – there isn’t anything quite like NYC at Christmas. Funny thing, Mr. D and I watched ‘ELF’ the other night and all the sites in the scene made us super-excited to get back in town!

Maggie – a month!? Do tell! I popped over to your site yesterday and I didn’t see any beans spilled about your/T’s job change… How fun it would be to get ya in the same City with us! ;)
