Ephemera {100 years old – inspired by this}
This piece of 100 year old ephemera came from Mr. D’s Auntie in Ann Arbor, Michigan. (She is a ceramic artist who makes the very best coffee mugs I’ve ever put my hands on!) I’d have to say that this postcard is one of my favorite gifts that I received this past holiday season.

Let’s face it ~ when I do my stationery designs I am heavily influenced by vintage typography of yesteryear. It is not my goal to reinvent the wheel. I am truly inspired by this era of typography and make an effort to give my clients a timeless look for their stationery by incorporating historic elements.
Can’t you just imagine your initials entwined amongst those swashes and swirls? Perhaps we’d use the words With Love instead of Post Card. I’d love to see it printed on thick, creamy ecru colored paper. We’d use blind letterpress printing ~ similar to the printing process I used in Hailey and Evan’s personal stationery note cards.

When I was a little girl, my dad and I used to dive into piles of ephemera on weekend visits to small antique shops, finding ourselves engrossed in a life past lived through a love letter or travel post. I had so much fun! I see why this was a gift you treasure.

Melanie, you couldn’t be sweeter. I appreciate your kindness. xx
Lydia, as always – thanks for chiming in – I love reading stories about your dad. I think it’s so great that you have that close connection with him!
