ABCD *crushing on* country collections

No matter what objects you collect ~ make an effort to display them! There is no sense in having an interesting collection if they are just packed away in a cupboard or attic. Believe me, with all our cool collections in storage I have realized how important it is to live with the items that you love.

P.S. All of the beautiful images in this post (except the last, which is mine) are from Country Living Magazine. Get up to the moment country decorating tips, recipes and happenings by following them @CountryLiving.

    You have unlocked the key to my heart. I’m utterly in love with all these looks. You are so right about the 3-5 thing. I’ve also found that one little thing standing alone sometimes doesn’t make a big impact, but grouping a few of those same like things together really adds a punch of pizazz as in your last photo. I’m a consign shop junkie, in my quest to fluff up our new little nest, so I’m always hunting for some sweet inspiration. You have done it again Amy, thanks.

    Love this! So happy people are getting into country again. I can’t wait for you to see all the yummy stuff coming up in the mag this year that I’ve gotten to work on. BTW, the top photo of the iron rug beaters is by Michael Partenio. He has a gorgeous web site: http://www.michaelpartenio.com.

    Ooh, I lovelovelove this post! (Even if most of the tips will have to wait until we buy our dream rowhouse.) In the meantime, will you come to DC and decorate our new apartment? :-)

    @The Hip Hostess,

    I am glad I could “win” you back after after the very modern decor posts I have been leaning towards the last few weeks! xx

    Mr. D arrived to the marriage as Mr. DWR and I was “country living” in the City. Combining our important pieces has led to a VERY eclectic decor scheme! I am a HUGE collector. You name it, it’s likely I have between 3-35 of it! ;)

    Stacy, thanks for taking this photo source one step further! I can’t wait to check out his website further. GORGEOUS photo!

    Maggie, you tease- but I’d be MORE than happy to come down to DC, see what you got, where you can improve and what you need to pull it together. A “newlywed decorating consult” of sorts. :) Say the word, I am ALLLLLL over it. Heck, I’ll tie it in w/a visit to introduce you to my girlfriend Monique! Now THAT would be fun!!

    Look, you got me ALLLLL excited now.
    xxabcd

    The odd number, the blend of high and low, objects with historical and personal meaning, and effortless displays – Mrs. abcd country, you’ve got it. And, how spiritual to have had your marriage be the impetus fusing different styles and different ways of seeing into a creative expression of one made of 2.

    I’ve got to start making more handmade wares! A collection of scarflettes, perhaps?

    I love collections, these are all great images. Except for the first one with the rug beaters–I don’t know why but it has a hint of “Marquis de Sade” to me…but that’s just me ;)

    I love the look of the collections you posted. Stunning. Thanks also for the tip on the odd number of items. Very good to know.
