spooled . spindled . curvy . classic turned legs
Do you remember this post from September when I was dying over the spindly legged chairs? Well, I made another visit to Traditional Home recently where they have managed to delight me. They’ve put together an entire spread about classic turned-wood furniture ~ and I have to admit that I am completely smitten.
As a side note: I gotta say that the modern graphic curtains in a log cabin is a fresh touch – LOVE it! Below: I think that the Burgess chair in walnut with a rush seat and back is really amazing. It is from is from Dessin Fournir. I think that it would look fabulous in a morning sun room, a keeping room, or anywhere in the house that you’d like to bring in a less formal feel. In my opinion, any time you add wicker to a room it adds an instant “home-sweet-home” feel.

The black desk above reminds me of the one that Maddie Weinrib has in her Soho loft. You know what I am talking about… the desk is floating in the room facing outwards. It is placed in front of a floor to ceiling bookcase. That look is completely fabulous – click here for a reminder. Whether your style is modern or traditional, I think a curvy piece of furniture mixed into the room adds a bit of whimsy. What do you think? Would you incorporate a piece or two into your home décor?

thanks for the close up look at spindle leg furniture. I am also intriqued by its style – harkening back to other eras, and love to mix my dark, heavy wood furniture with more modern pieces-this showcases the beauty of the turned-legs and inlaid work. I’ve enjoyed your blog and site over the last several months-so inspiring to have other interior designers that you can bounce ideas off of and collaborate with. Stop by Nest by Tamara this month for a look at the “guilds” of interior design. best, tamara stephenson

wow!!! absolutely gorgeous Amy. There is such a simple elegance with these pieces! I’d love a linen upholstered ottoman with spindly legs for my living room. Wouldn’t that be lovely?

Tamara,
Thank you so much for the compliment on my blog – I am also glad we’ve found one another on Twitter! I really appreciate you chiming in today.

Nicole, the linen is fabu, isn’t it? You know Restoration Hardware is doing some pieces in Belgian Linen right now = my delight!

Congratulations on keeping each other under spool for three years! A propos to the above, my next wedding fete (vow renewals?) will be bespooled – a salt of the round, abundant, curvy sensual earth feeling that would be just appropriate for guests to lounge on as we share testaments of love.

[...] I then headed to Coastal Living for more beach inspiration. Thank heavens ~ over there I found a home that embraced a neutral palette with lots of texture. Please note: it’s okay to have black base cabinets at the beach -YAY! I also adore the black stool that is casually placed at the center island. (If you like that look, check out my recent post about spooled and spindled furniture.) [...]
