We have an original ‘out of sorts fireplace’ chez nous. I just may jump into my thermal wellies and head over to Riverside Park for a round up of firewood. Who says we can’t be fierce huntresses in nyc?

I must admit there is something to be said for cozying up to the fire in our little cottage on these endless winter evenings up here in the north country. But Spring is what I’m dreaming of these days. I’m with you on the painted woodwork, love it…but do I dare? I have a fear of commitment at times. I need to get over that.

Careful Lydia! A pile of wood in the apartment may attract mice. I thought about putting that in the post, but didn’t want to mess up the flow of those photos with my silly text! ;)

I would assume that they either had some sort of treated wood, didn’t care about the mouse/bug issue, OR perhaps it was just brought in for the photo shoot. Looks great though, no?

I’d look into “treated wood” and see where it gets you.

Trish, YES!! I did. Pretty good, no? winkwink

Mr. D and I ventured into the Central and West Village late yesterday afternoon. We looked at a 1896 fixer, a late 60′s mini studio in original condition with a terrace (facing West to the Village and over the Hudson River!) -nothing wrong with living in the ugliest building on the block, you get to see all the pretty ones!- and an alcove studio loft with roof rights in Union Square. Nothing moved us to tears, it just solidified the idea – if we stay put in NYC, we’re building/buying in the country and will continue renting in the City.

It’s good to get out there, throw the spaghetti against the wall and see if anything sticks.

    Thanks for commenting ladies!

Julieann, NEVER get out of bed? Who is going to stoke the fire? I guess that is one argument for gas fireplaces, no? winkwink.
