shake shake shake * shake shake shake {shaker peg board}

I hesitate in posting this photo so early on - never in a bladzillion years would I pick a paint color so garish! This is the remnants of a little girl bedroom which will soon be painted a lovely shade of French butter colored yellow. I can not wait to see it transform!I mentioned earlier this week that the Shaker Peg Board had been installed. I thought that I’d give you a quick pre-painting peek. We opted for short and stout Shaker knobs rather than true Shaker pegs. I think that these will stand up over time better than the long pegs would. They are the perfect remedy in our closet-less guest bedroom.As you’ll notice, I went the non-traditional route when hanging the Shaker peg board in the master bedroom. I think by hanging it tight to the pine ceiling that it’s the clean break of bright white we needed. While they may be hanging higher than normal, it will give me a nice stopping point for my charcoal paint - we might still decide to keep the wood ceiling natural.I absolutely love the utilitarian aspect of having Shaker peg board in the house. I’ll be able to hang my robe before going to sleep at night -or- use them to hang artwork. (Yay! No excess holes in the plaster!) I am certain that these cutie-pies will be doing double and triple duty for the house in no time flat. If you want to see some great images of Shaker peg rails in action, check out this Apartment Therapy post.

    Amy, this is looking wonderful. I’m really enjoying the renovation updates, so keep them coming!

    I totally get the clean break between the ceiling and wall, a great idea for this situation.

    And am not laughing about the amount of colour swatches, had 32 different whites for my daughter’s room and would score them depending on the time of day/light. I ended up with THE most perfect shade, I was so happy with the results. OCD, i know.

    Michelle – I don’t think I can let you get away that easy! After 32 different swatches, what did you determine is THE perfect shade of white? I am *dying* to know!!!

    Jenna, Thanks so much for leaving such a nice compliment. I always wonder when I get a little decor-centric or recipe minded, etc. if I don’t lose some people… I try to keep things balanced around here, but I really do write about whatever is inspiring me each day — and right now, it’s all about the renovation.

    You guys, I am 1/9th the way through cleaning our little red shed (the one I had hoped to have guests stay in since we only have 2 bedrooms in the house) and omgoodness ~ the thing is teaming with spiders. It’s the grossest. I am all itchy and disgusted. Okay, back to work. ;)

    Thanks for commenting today!

    And how amazing will it be? I cant even imagine :)

    Helena!

    It’s going to be pretty amazing, if I do say so myself… Mostly because I have not seen our stuff in over 1.5 years, it’s going to be like Christmas, our wedding, and all of my birthdays in my entire life, just rolled into one!

    Today, after they painted the living room, I remembered the paintings that were in the bedroom of our last place… I think they’ve found a new home in our living room!

    xox Thanks for taking the ride with me xox

    Can’t wait to see the finished room. That was a great idea having the peg board be the transition piece from the ceiling to the paint colour.

    I’m laughing at Michelle’s comment – 32 shades, scoring day and night – now THAT’s dedication to a colour choice! The shaker peg board is true delight; what a lovely feature.

    Ooooo it’s so fun going on the reno journey with you!

    Will, I tweeted Michelle (I had to know what perfect color she used!) and it was a color called Sugar Cube by Sico.. I had never heard of the brand – must be Canadian?

    Anywhoo ~ I’m glad you’re having fun taking this little journey with me… I can’t wait to nest!
