{What’s on?} A cocktail Tweet-Up November 18th in NYC!
Jonathan Legate and I solidified our friendship on Twitter nearly a year ago, but had the wonderful opportunity to meet one another in real life back in September. Upon return from his September NYC visit, we started the impromptu #DesignTV chat which has since turned into a weekly lunchtime design conversation on Twitter. As luck would have it, Jonathan planned another trip to the Big Apple. He arrives on Friday of this week!
Both Jonathan and I believe that that it’s important to design your home by surrounding yourself with an amalgamation of items that you love. These items should be collected over time and be a reflection of your personality. We have both written about the subject of ‘living with what you love’ on many occasions. Just recently, Jonathan gave a seminar in Canada where he spoke on this very topic.
Needless to say, we needed the perfect spot to throw our celebration. Jonathan and I have similar taste in design, we are both collectors, and we both agree that The New Traditionalists fit right into our personal aesthetics. They make slow home, eco-friendly, heirloom furniture. This is the kind of furniture you’ll want to hand down to your grandchildren.
During cocktail hour on November 18th we are throwing a party to celebrate this handsome line with a focus on collecting, nesting, and ‘living with what you love.’ We don’t want a single Twitter, Design, or Blog writing friend to be left out. Space is limited, but if you’re interested in joining us, please click here -> DesignTVevent[at]gmail.com <- to be added to our invite address list.

What a great collaboration! It’s just another example of how amazing Twitter is. My husband and I are meeting up with two of my favourite tweeps (@layersandlayers and @layerstoo) and their husbands for dinner again this weekend. It’s like we’re old friends. Twitter rocks!

I love the way you both think! I am also really impressed & excited about what I have seen of The New Traditionalists!
If I had not started really diving in & using my twitter account I would not even know about The New Traditionalists! .
I too have a similar philosophy with design. I find though that my clients want everything new & now.
It is all about instant gratification….but for myslef, the way I design my own home is more like a journey…sometimes I am not even sure where the next destination will be but I leave an opening in my schedule (metaphorically speaking) for the trip that will lead me to that perfect piece or souvenir. It is a metaphor though…I do not get to travel like this much in reality. I am not sure my real schedule can always be that open…I would love a trip to New York. I feel a tad ashamed to say I have never been. I am not sure how I could pull that off….tempted to see.
I know it will be lovely & I look forward to hearing all about it!

I agree with The Two of you. Home is a place full of items of love. Adore the New Traditionalists. Totally love your verve energy and sparkle, and wish I could be one of the twitterati or blogo’s to hit the cocktail hour to meet you both in Real time. Till opportunity drops, I await your wit online, glass in hand.
