floral week wrap up {Happy Weekend}

This week in Chicago at Suzanne Cummings Floral Atelier has been an amazing experience. Not only do I feel like I have made a life long friend – we’ve been working 12 hour days together! – it’s been wealth of knowledge for me. The last time I worked with flowers on a regular basis was 2006. Spending this time with Suzanne has absolutely reawakened my love of flower design. It’s like making a sculpture, only with live material.I shared the hand-tied class with interior designer Scott Laslie. He has offices in San Francisco and Atlanta. He recently started ‘Found Market’ which bridges the gap between DIY and hiring a full service interior design firm. He has incredible style and I look forward to watching his business grow!Of course, I had the pleasure of sharing my enthusiasm for Twitter with him during coffee breaks and chit-chat that happened during our flower arranging practice time. I got him set up on Twitter from his blackberry – he is @ScottLaslie. I also set up a ScottLaslie.tumblr page for him in between hand-tied flower arrangements. Yes, it’s that easy.Just an FYI: I have been posting iPhone Twitpics during my stay in Chicago – click here if you’d like to see what we’ve been working on. I’ll have another round up next week that shows the arrangements that I worked on and talks a bit more about my experience this week. Also, I think the Martha Stewart radio show went pretty well yesterday. They said “Look forward to having you back!” A good sign, no? I have a friend who helped me tape it and I’ll be posting it to the digital sketchbook next week!
