Manhattan {ten years later}

In honor of the City I love the most on the ten year anniversary of the September 11th attacks, I thought about writing my recount of that fateful morning. My apartment was in the original ‘ground zero’ area, and that morning has shaped my adult life in a very profound way. To be honest, I’m not sure I necessarily want to go there in this post – just know my heart is heavy.Instead of dwelling on the past, I’ll lighten it up a bit and celebrate my Dad’s first visit to The Country House this weekend. I’m very happy that my family will be here with us this weekend in particular. So today, I’ll share with you a recipe. The Manhattan has long been my father’s libation of choice. Perfect, or on the rocks – it’s a delicious drink! Manhattan Cocktail Recipe
3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth
2 1/2 oz Bourbon Whiskey
1 dash Bitters
1 Maraschino Cherry
1 Twist Orange PeelVariation: No bitters. Substitute a twist of lime for the cherry and orange.{Images Special Manhattan Cocktail, Manhattan Cocktail, Flag, Modern 50, Manhattan on the Rocks, Latin Manhattan, Rocks Manhattan}
