The New Traditionalists {a holiday present: Desk no. 211}

Remember last week when I challenged you to dream decorate your home office? Tell me, what would your office design look like with Desk no. 211 in it? Pretty remarkable, I suspect. Why Desk 211, you ask? Because it is the one I would dream decorate the ABCD Design studio with, of course!I have made it no secret here on ABCD Design that The New Traditionalists is one of my favorite furniture lines. I’ve written about them on many occasions. I first fell in love with The New Traditionalists over a TV cabinet (in their infancy, when they were known as Mason Gray) and then I named them one of my top three favorites at the Architectural Digest Home Show in 2010. Late last Fall, I wanted to know more about their line so I made a visit to their handsome Soho showroom.Six week lead time? Check. Fully customizable? Check. Eco-friendly paints and finishes? Check. Made in the USA? You BET! Hand-built, honest quality AND designs that play nicely with both traditional and modern decor? No need to carry on. Sign me up. I am a fan.During that meeting, Philip shared with me that they like throwing parties in their space. “Ooooo…I like throwing parties too!” We took that conversation from the seed of an idea, to The Living with What you Love Event. We arranged the fabulous party guests, amazing cocktails and Fall inspired flower designs in less than two weeks time. What a magnificent night it was!Since then, we’ve had many wonderful conversations inspired by The New Traditionalists on our weekly DesignTV chat that were facilitated by the behind-the-scenes social media work of Leslie Carothers. The most memorable chat was with Interior Designer Campion Platt where we discussed Quality, Value and Timeless Design. Most recently, we had a lively chat about how fashion and interior design influence one another. The New Traditionalists make a handsome line of hand-built, ultra-fine heirloom furniture that is fit to hand down from one generation to the next. The New Traditionalists style, aesthetic and slow home mentality is a perfect fit for ABCD Design. And that is why they’ve offered to give one of my readers a Christmas present!

Love how you can customize it online! I NEED this desk. If I don’t win, then I’m most definitely ordering one. It would fit perfectly in our new office space in our open concept main floor. The bleached walnut is going to match the trim of the entire house PERFECTLY. (the trim is also a bleached walnut)

I’m swooning so hard it hurts.

Wow! What a find. I just finished decorating our home office with this delicious green chrysanthemum-like bursts wallpaper. And a New Traditionalists desk would be the icing on the cake – inspiring creativity, beauty and industriousness. Mine that I designed was dark walnut with pewter leather. Thanks for opening my eyes to this beautiful furniture.

This is an amazing giveaway, I can’t even believe it. I customized it with a warm wood and high contrast linen fabric to make the details pop! http://thenewtraditionalists.com/facebook.php?id=48&swnum=2&sw1=268&sw2=61

    http://www.thenewtraditionalists.com/facebook.php?id=48&swnum=2&sw1=272&sw2=146

My design may appear to have a very muted finish because of the neutral pewter/gray palette I selected, but I chose this design because I’d want to use it as a vanity in my bedroom (I’m quite vain). I love the way warm grays can compliment bright colors or be mixed with other neutral colors because it gives me the versatility I need (which works well with my fickle nature). I would use this as a base to slowly build around to create the vintage/rustic/romantic look I envision for my dream bedroom.

  20. Tina Holmes on 22 Nov 2011 at 1:07 pm

a perfect desk for a perfect contest…. have swooned over this desk for a while and how can you not adore and be inspired by the fabulous options from linen to leather to customize your dream desk. So many options I think I really did 7 desks but at the end how could I not go with fine linen pewter and echo limestone … simple and chic!

I ignored trends and made this desk 100% something I’d love to work. I used my favorite color, purple, and accented it with gray. It’s feminine but strong and I love the calming effect purple has – perfect for keeping stress at bay.

Wow what a tough choice Amy, but I ended up melding the casual chic of the denim with the more authoritative richness of the Ragtime Parisian leather.

  47. kelly hines on 30 Nov 2011 at 12:00 am

Oh, drat! I got all the way through the comments section and see that @hereinthishouse has already submitted the same desk. She was here first, so hopefully the duplicate will not disqualify hers. I just won the Dash and Albert rug, so I will just root for @hereinthishouse!

  48. Camille on 30 Nov 2011 at 2:34 am

Hi, this is Camille from Kentucky and I am so unimaginably thrilled about this wonderful contest! My whole life I’ve wanted a gorgeous desk and this one is so representative of who I am – eclectic, old-fashioned, yet modern, too. While picturing Miss Desk in my tiny 1920s apartment I came up with a great small-space solution…she will live in my kitchen by my window and be used as not just a desk but will double as a small dining table. Extra chairs will live in the corners of the room and will be pulled up to Miss Desk when it is time to dine.

    http://www.thenewtraditionalists.com/facebook.php?id=48&swnum=2&sw1=308&sw2=199

  52. Julie on 30 Nov 2011 at 3:34 pm

Get out of town. This is an amazing giveaway. I enjoyed the process of designing a desk and had a very difficult time deciding. I went with what I think is a classic look that is both masculine and feminine. I chose the Polo Blue base with Berlin tweed for the drawers. It’s deep and rich and would look stunning in an office that has white walls and perhaps a white desk chair to offset the dark colors. I would pair it with dramatic contemporary art and gold framed black and white photos all on one gallery wall. I also imagine a pink undertone Persian rug and a wood burning fireplace. Santa, can you hear me?

    Lovely giveaway!

Oh, I absolutely love this design! It reminds me of a desk my grandfather used to have when I was a little girl. He used to craft leather belts and accessories from it and he kept all of his tools stored in the drawers. I found out about this in the knick of time and would be thrilled to add this desk to my home! I chose a lighter color to contrast the warm color of the wood. Thank you!
