What’s on? a virtual tasting with Sotheby’s Wine

ABCD Design has been asked to take part in a virtual tasting led by Sotheby’s Wine CEO, Jamie Ritchie! He will guide our discussion on Twitter around holiday entertaining, wine pairing and seasonal gifts. As part of the experience, Sotheby’s Wine has been generous enough to send three bottles of wine over to The City Apartment. That’s right, ABCD drinking at 3pm on a Friday afternoon with an excuse – it’s “work” – LOL!Sotheby’s Wine (Serena Sutcliffe, MW) describes the wine that we’ll be tasting best, so I am going to let her do the descriptions below. During the Holiday Twitter Tasting, we’ll try three different classes of wine. Good, Better, and Best.Good: Chateau Maucamps 2003 Bordeaux “Classic claret that boxes way above its weight. The wines from St. Estèphe and Northern Medoc did particularly well in 2003, as they managed to get truly ripe grapes, yet retained the freshness and complexity. In our search for good value everyday Bordeaux, when we found the Maucamps ‘03, we knew we had discovered an all around crowd pleaser – seriously good, quaffable Bordeaux at a very affordable price – worth buying by the case, as it is not a style that you will get bored with.”Better: Chateau Haut Bailly 2003 Bordeaux “Haut Bailly is on a roll, making better and better wines, under Bob Wilmers American Ownership, with the very talented Veronique Sanders direction. The 2003, priced at $99.95, is classic Graves: black fruit and lead pencil. Great value and beginning to drink from now.”BEST: (the one I am most excited about) Chateau Calon Segur 1996 Bordeaux “Lovely warm, generous, cedary-spicy nose that is pure top Médoc Cru Classé; a lesson in the genre. Great minerally structure, which is signature St. Estèphe. I have always loved this wine – and continue to do so. Landmark Calon and a ferociously good buy.”OMG, I know. This is one heck of an amazing Twitter opportunity, right? The conversation will take place at the hashtag #SothebysTasting. You can listen into the #SothebysTasting conversation by clicking here at 3pm ET. We’ll be talking about the flavors, aroma, tastes, the color, and what food to pair the wine with. Also: please feel free to follow @SothebyWine and/or like Sotheby’s Wine on facebook.A Very Special Offer: Enter code: TWEET25 at checkout for $25 off any $200 purchase through the Sotheby’s Wine store at SothebysWine.com (or with a mention at the 72nd and York location.) They told me it’s cool to share the code with my friends (y’all are friends, right? *wink*) and family to pass along the holiday cheer!Images: Bordeaux Grapes, Sotheby’s Wine, PinterestWine Investment TipsWine Words and Video Tape, Wine Searcher, RandomitisDelish.com
