Slow Home Decor: a pair of industrial tray tables

This past Saturday, my weekend treasure hunting in Upstate New York proved fruitful. I found a set of industrial tray tables that caught my eye. They are the perfect scale, size and color for our fireplace room.¬†Eventually, this room is going to be all shades of cream, light grey, white with hits of coppery brown and charcoal black. You might recall that I plan to slip cover the sofa and ottoman in washable, Belgian Libeco ‘Fog’ LinenThe tray on these tables is about 2.5 inches deep. When I saw them my imagination went wild. A large coffee table book could be open to a gorgeous photo and the glass placed on top. I could fill them with collections of things. How cool would it look filled with colorful Fall leaves, moss, twigs, a rock collection, photographs from our latest trip, memorabilia, Christmas ornaments or…artwork?
I plan to have a piece of thicker glass cut for these tables, but other than that they are good to go. I love that they’re slightly chipped and there are little rust marks. It gives a sense of history to these pieces. I can not wait until my slip covers arrive and the room is transformed!
