Last evening I had the pleasure of attending the Housing Works Design on a Dime Benefit in New York City. How it works: The space is broken up into “rooms” to be designed. The designers collect donations of home decor items, furniture, art and accessories from vendors and furniture manufacturers. They then set up a vignette. Housing Works puts prices on everything (many considerably well under market value) and all the proceeds go to support the charity.
The event was sponsored by Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Veranda -thanks for the newest issues on the way out the door!- Home Goods, Valspar, HSBC, ViaCom, One Kings Lane, Lifetime, New York Design Center, Orasure Technologies, Sferra and General Motors. Design on a Dime runs through the weekend. Pop by the Metropolitan Pavilion and shop til you drop for a good cause.
