Spring has Sprung {Summer is on it’s way!}


The Dragoo’s are back from Southern California safe and sound. All is well, except that I may have eaten my weight in fish tacos while we were away. If there is ever a place besides Mexico to get an authentic fish taco, San Diego has got to be high up on the list! My gosh, I just love how fresh and Summery everything tasted in SoCal! As a matter of fact, one day at lunch I had the most wonderful salad composed of grilled shrimp, mango, papaya, cilantro, red onion and red pepper. The dressing was a spicy vinaigrette. I can not wait to try and recreate it this Summer.There is no doubt our trip inspired me for Summer entertaining. I had icy cucumber water out of a drink dispenser and started wondering if it was too early to bring ours out of the cabinet that it’s been hiding in all Winter. While waiting at the airport for our return trip home I picked up a copy of this month’s Cooking Light. As you know, I am not normally a cooking light kind of gal, but they had a whole section of the magazine dedicated to super-fast Mexican recipes that I couldn’t pass up!We left California around lunchtime on Saturday and after spending Saturday night in the City, we arrived to the country house on Sunday morning. The air is sweet and heavy with the scent of Lilacs. Spring has finally sprung in Northwestern Connecticut! It amazes me how much further ahead the foliage is just 90 miles away in NYC. Speaking of Springtime happenings – I wonder how our baby birds are doing? (I have to admit that I’m a little scared to check on them!)
